1938

Berthold Hermle, a bolt and machine screw manufacturer, is founded in the southwestern German town of Gosheim and begins production of turned parts.

1953

The business becomes Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle KG.

1956

We begin producing centrifuges from this point on.

1957

Production of milling machines commences.

1972

The first Hermle universal tool milling machine is introduced.

1975

NC-controlled milling machines are produced for the first time

1978

The success of NC-controlled milling machines leads to the beginning of production of CNC milling machines.

1984

From this point on, the company is represented under a new name: Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle GmbH & Co.

1990

With the change to Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle AG completed, the company is publicly traded on the stock exchange. At the same time, we acquire the new sales and administration building in Gosheim.

1992

Comprehensive national and international restructuring of the Hermle Group is introduced.

1993

The company is sustainably optimized in many aspects as part of "Concept 2000".

1997

Hermle + Partner Vertriebs GmbH commences operations

1998

The joint venture Hermle-Leibinger Systemtechnik GmbH is founded for customer-specific automation of Hermle machines.

1999

The group acquires a sales and service center in Switzerland with Hermle Schweiz AG. A new training center is established in the Kassel-Lohfelden industrial park for more intensive support of the central and north German area.

2001

The US subsidiary is spun off to form Hermle Machine Co. LLC, thereby strengthening the market position of the Group in the USA. At the same time, Hermle Nederland B.V. is founded in Venlo-Blerick.

2002

With the "concept of a breathing enterprise", a flexible working time system, Hermle counteracts heavy economic fluctuations and avoids cutting jobs.

2003

A service and sales center is put into operation in Northern America.

2004

The highly modern Service Center is acquired at the Gosheim location. At the same time, sales branch offices and representative offices are founded in China, Austria and the Czech Republic.

2005

Hermle WWE AG is founded in Switzerland. Activities in high-growth countries outside of Europe are now coordinated by the new subsidiary.

2006

For the direct development of the Italian market, Hermle Italia S.r.l., Rodano, is founded. Expansion of the activities in Bulgaria and Romania through the export company Hermle WWE AG.

2007

Two additional sales centers are opened in Russia. Restructuring and expansion of capacity in sheet metal production at the Gosheim site.

2008

Expansion of the state-of-the-art, flexible production capacities at the company headquarters. Purchase of further premises in Gosheim for long-term safeguarding of the company.

2009

During the difficult financial crisis, the concept of the breathing company proves itself once again: despite the massive drop in demand, Hermle manages to make a profit and avoid job losses.

In order to facilitate the opening up of the Scandinavian and Southeast European markets, Hermle founds new offices in Denmark and Bulgaria.

2010

Hermle is expanding its product portfolio with an innovation offensive, aiming for the greatest number of new machine features and products ever in a very short time.

2011

Hermle founds a new office in Poland.

A new warehouse and logistics center with the latest shipping and warehousing systems is put into operation at the company headquarters in Gosheim.

2012

New assembly areas allow the cyclic assembly concept to be expanded for large machines and provide the foundations for a new sales record.

2013

Hermle celebrates its 75th birthday. This anniversary year gets off to a promising start and despite the uncertain general conditions, it could prove to be as successful as the previous year.

2014

Construction of a new hospitality building in Gosheim completed to coincide with Open House 2014, providing high-quality and uncomplicated catering for customers and guests.

2015

Concentration of both our Swiss companies WWE AG and Hermle (Switzerland) AG in one place.
The large machining centre C 52 U / MT will be presented.

2016

Start of the construction activities of two production halls at the Gosheim and Zimmern o.R. sites.
The 25000th machine is being delivered.

2017

Completion of building work for the expansion of machining capabilities in Gosheim.

2018

Complete takeover of HLS Hermle Systemtechnik GmbH.

2019

Change of name of HLS Hermle Systemtechnik GmbH and HPV Hermle Vertriebs GmbH.

2020

Opening of a state-of-the-art sheet metal production facility at the Zimmern ob Rottweil site.
Establishment of Hermle Southeast Asia (Thailand).

2021

Hermle expands its machining capacities at the location in Gosheim.

2022

Capacity expansion for future growth – Hermle acquires the first expansion areas required for setting up a new large parts production facility, expanding mineral casting production and creating additional storage capacity at the Zimmern ob Rottweil site.

The new subsidiary Hermle Machine (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is officially launched.
